    THE FUTURE OF SFC

To all SFC fishermen, fisherwomen, and people like me who just kinda think they're part fish! That means you Magoo! I have had a lot of good constructive discussions as of lately with the brass. I just thought that this may be the right place and the right time to write this. As many have noticed, there has been some, oh lets just say, off color posts and threads recently. I will stand up and admit I have been involved in some of this. But for what I believed was a good cause. Either way, it really only accomplished one thing. That is forcing many here on SFC to either leave the site or to stop posting. I'm ashamed!

As many may know allready, I'm no spring chicken, but my brain still thinks I'm eighteen! I've written many threads with a purpose in mind. That would be to get some of you younger guys thinking. And even thinking outside the "BOX". No pun intended Marty!! I believe that I may have suceeded in much of my good intention. I have told some stories here that almost sound too far fetched to be true, OH THEY'RE TRUE! But don't do as I do, do as I say!! Everytime I climb back in the boat from an offshore swim with the toothy critters I ultimately end up counting my fingers and toes! Good thing we don't have more than twenty cause I can't count much higher!! Well, winter is over, and spring has sprung. And quickly might I add.

Now to the buisness end of this letter. There are a lot of different SFC members here. Some with a ton of experience, some with not as much experience but has the passion deep down inside where it's almost burning. They want to learn. Thats why they're here maybe. Maybe they're just here for their free shirt. "WHEN IS THAT FREEKING FREE SHIRT COMING JOHN?" There are middle aged fisherman, and there are older, middle aged fisherman, (no I'm not calling you out OLDMUD!) And finally there seems to be an awful lot of younger up and comers on this site. Guys in college, guys in high school, even young men who haven't made it to high school yet. What I'm saying is they have just as much of a right to their point of view as I do. As a matter of fact, I believe their posts and remarks are much, much more important than mine. .....................Why, you ask. Well, these guys are the future of this site. And they're the future of our fisheries. Some will end up studying maritime law, and they'll have a vote in what happens with our management regulations. Some will ultimately become commercial fisherman. Many will just end up finding their niche and raise a family, just to fish on the weekends. But they all play a huge role in where this site goes!! I have made some amazing new fishing buddies on this site and cannot wait to get out there and get bloody with all of you. But what I'm asking is that all of the other crap be buried, and lets treat everyone the way we want to be treated, or the way we expect our sons to be treated. We're all a family here, lets act like it.

And one final thank you to the Sears family, Fortunamate, a.k.a. Cam. You guys are top notch in my book and you will make our New England Forum the best damn forum on this site. Thats about enough from one blowhard wouldn't ya'll say. I'll see ya on the water!!

OK - so if its all family here - I need someone w/ a pickup truck and more muscle than me to move my daughter in Brookline weekend of May 30th (college turnover weekend). Payback is a trip east for tuna in June.

    Takers?

You don't want the riff-raff on this board anywhere near your daughter.

    Larry,

I live in Boston, have a Tahoe and a strong back, but I can also get East most of the time I want to...what I cannot do is get South of the Islands. What is this move really worth to you?

PS: I am a happily married father of two so your daughter is safe around this riff-raff.

...oh yeah, and how much "stuff" are we talking here?

trip south works also. Typical 23 Y.O girls room full of stuff; a bureau, bed and couch, 3 flights down and out, a 2 mile drive down the Green Line and 1 flight up. She can deal w the rest of the stuff on her own...

I have a suburban. But at my age, not to sure about muscles. I can give you a hand. Payback isn't necessary

Thanks Chum but we are just here to communicate with fisherman like ourselves no need for special consideration all the people on SFC have been very supportive. I would just like to see people get along and live life in peace. Just one thought for some members: we are mentors to our young up and comers no need to bash them or criticize in public if you see a young person making mistakes PM them with your advice do not criticize in public. You can effect a young person for ever with just a couple of poor choice words. Enough said

Bottom fishing one the Bank has been So So one day is good the next is slow we are averaging 30 to 60 fish a day mostly Haddock using baited Jigs with pink teasers. Most of the fish seem to be on the eastern edge but I hear some good things are happening up in the shallows also.

Our cameras will be running soon got caught up with land work and have not finished hooking up the video equipment.
