    Furuno Sounder question

I've got a Furuno GP-7000F GPS/Sounder with a through hull Airmar transducer. It has always worked flawlessly until this year. The boat was splashed last week and upon power up the sounder displays "Echo Sounder Initializing", it stays on that screen, and if you hit the menu key there is no depth or water temp data. The GPS works fine. My guess is that when the bottom was painted the transducer was painted over, but would this cause the issue? If so, what's the best way to remove the paint from the transducer? Even if it was painted over, I would think that the temp data would still be displayed?? Thanks in advance

you can't paint over the bottom of the transducer,if you can haul the boat & check that & to see if maybe you hit it while launching, place to start.l

sounds like cable connection or the unit itself, no the transducer
