The ground fishing certainly has been better than the tuna fishing that is for sure. Yesterday on the Fourth of July we had the Paul Gladyz party of five on board for a combination tuna and cod trip. After running out to the Southeast Corner of Stellwagen Bank and presenting the live macks in the AM which the group caught on the way out, it was nothing but large striped bas engulfing every bait you put out weather on a balloon or a kite. Of course the anglers wanted a quick photo and they were released as required by the law.
Well after a few hours of no takers for the big boys it was time to head to the east and the group of anglers caught near limits of nice market sized codfish and a few pollock.
By days end everyone had plenty of fillets for the freezer sending these fisherman home with great memories and good times. I wish we had a cooperative tuna and some larger codfish but who can complain when rods are bending and the weather is great.
Capt Curt is back at it again today on a shared charter on another beautiful July day. If interested in hoping on a shred or private charter for groundfishing please contact me at captdave@relentlesscharters.com
