The little MF's in question are called Stable Flies. They hatch on shore and then come hunting a blood meal. Hot, dry weather produces the biggest hatches. The only thing that keeps them off the skin is lemon juice. Cut them in half and rub the juice on your ankles. You still have to watch them buzz around the boat, but at least they arent eating you alive.
Thaks for that info. I had been cleaning and sanitizing the boats with bleech and soap to no availe....suckers really go for your ankles
Covered myself in off and they ate it like candy...no help at all...
Worst this season I have ever seen
Thanks again
Anyone got an update ?
Got a cod charter sunday with repeat clients who bring their own bottles of hand sanitizer.
The flies should go over well![]()
