    Fishing Areas

    Hey Guys,
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me out. I am new to the game and just bought a Grady White Gulfstream 232. Currently I am out of Duxbury but my home port with be out of Hyannis/Lewis Bay. I want to go for Tuna and while in Duxbury I would go out to Stellwagen, Peaked hill bar as well as race point.
The fishing grounds will be new to me on the south side so I was wondering if anyone knows of any areas that would be around buzzard bay for tuna other than shooting over to Chatam(which even that I am unfamiliar with). Is there anywhere closer with gas prices and all or am I stuck making the trip? If anyone has any ideas they could share please let me know I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Lewis Bay to Woods Hole is 21 nm. Lewis Bay to Crab Ledge is 24 nm. You will not find any tuna in Buzzards Bay, so I would target east. You'll be 19 nm to the southern end of Muskegat and from there you can hit the Claw, Fingers, Inside Fingers, Gully, Owl and the Star, all 15-25 nm away.

If you are looking to trim OTW miles, I would trailer to Ryders Cove to fish east, Pamet to fish SWC/SEC/PHB and Falmouth to hit the Claw or Dump. I trailer a 233 Formula and my buddy moves his 24 Northcoast without issues to these places.

Lots of nice spots where you will be. Good luck.

    Jigga,

From Hyannis, heading to Chatham would be your best bet. Crab Ledge to the BC Bouy is the "classic" area. This year they have been in closer than Crab frequently.

Near shore south of the Vineyard is a big place and can be hit our miss. Get your feet wet east of Chatham would be my advice.

There are no tuna in Nantucket or Vineyard Sounds or Buzzards Bay. Saving on gas is tough to do unless you trailer. The words saving, cheap or inexpensive have found no place in the tuna fishing world unfortunately.

ha ha - too true. That's why tuna fishermen have so much gear. It's all kind of a rounding error compared to fuel costs.
