Fish tails report-Friday-Sunday afternoon
Just got back from the worst canyon trip of the year! After trolling for untold miles not a single tuna was seen. Very few were caught trolling if any but some did ok on the night bite. Two weeks ago in the tails I had a bang up trip-250lb sword night one,350lb sword night two, 400 lb blue girl, 300lb hammerhead(wow do they fight hard!) 4 yellowfin and mahi. We came home in some snotty conditions early this morning. Nice 80 degree blue water just west of the tails but no tuna-lots of rays and blue marlin. Got windy sat night- Morning was 15knots with 4-5 footers. My 25 parker was a rocking and rollin. Trolled up to the 50 fathom line without a sniff. Wind layed down halfway home but then cranked up again toward the dump. Did not see anything (no birds) or life. Will wait till I go again with some sold info. That nice eddy off the tails holds tons of rays and blues but not much else. Very little weed to boot. The night bite was dead for us too. Most of the boats reported the poor fishing we experienced too. The good news is I have enough vacuum packed sword to last for a real long time! Tight lines-Sword
