First Time Kite Report

Hit the bank today in difficult conditions
Lots of fog
tons of weed
then wind
then some wild storms.

I had some spectacular days last year in the slop and today didn't disappoint.

It was my first time fishing a kite bait-and now I am a real believer. Kite accounted for 5 out of 7 hookups. Boston Big game parafoil was easy to operate and the bites were spectacular. We kept one 63 inch fish and released another.
Lost a couple of larger fish, and didnt come tight a few times.

Good luck to you guys this weekend-lots of fish out there.

Thanks for the reply to my PM, Tim. That sounds like a good first day using the kite. I'm going to try and get my hands on some kind of livies and do the same thing on Sunday.

nice

Nice post. I can't wait to make the same post for my first tuna of the year.

Any chance you could flush out some of the details on the kite rigging etc?

Pics would be great!

Thanks guys
I never felt the need to fly the kite-as it was working well without it.
I now realize you can fish both down and upwind and the strike is unreal!

We were using boston big game kite
http://www.alltackle.com/boston_big_game_kites.htm
pretty easy to deal with-

We did have some problems with getting the kite rod out of the way in time

There are alot of guys on here that have way more knowledge about this.

Got to say the pathfinder is set up perfect for live baiting.
Nice main livewell and 2 5 gallon pitch wells that we use to put the bait in when we need to reset the drift.

Mark-would love to get you out sometime-
Dan-go for it-live line anything you can get your hands on
blues, scup, pogie, or jig up some stuff on the bank

ATG-look here for rigging

Congrats on a great day. Were you using pogies? Has anyone ever had success with live bait besides pogies/mackerel? I was thinking about trying pollack when the pogies are scarce,

Awesome stuff, Tim. Thanks for the intel as well - some sage advice got our lines in where there were no signs, but it paid off big time!

We still got to feel the sting of humility when we blanked on the cast net, and broke down to pay up to the pogy man

You've got me thinking about kites - glad your first day back out had everything working, and you guys scoring!
