Federal Permits, NOAA and Govt Shutdown
It will be interesting to see if those waiting on Federal Fishery Permits throughout the country will be effected by a government shutdown. With the shutdown in 1995 and 25 days of government employees not working many areas became backlogged. With a new FY about to start on 01 May along with the new HMS season around the corner many anglers and commercial fisherman may not have the new permits on hand.
Will NOAA and other enforcement agencies expect them to all stay home or what? If they are backlogged along with things like Coast Guard National Maritime Center and Regional Exam Centers I imagine licenses will also be on hold where the majority of the personnel who work in this area are civilian workforce.
I hope they get their differences hammered out today if not go out back and beat the hell out of each other and who ever comes out on top gets their parts of the budget and we move on.
