Fairway/Mudhole
We trolled from 4:00 or so till dark around the Mudhole on Sat,before slipping in at Paynes.MMMMMMMMMMMM,Mudslides!Little did we know, the mudslides were to be the high point of our weekend. We got out early Sunday am,trolled for most of the day,at one point, about 600 3-6 inch baitfish cleared water and literally jumped over a bird/green machine, but no fish.We muckled a dragger/no fish.We saw a couple finbacks in the afternoon, one breached about 30 yards in front of us.That was pretty cool. One other time,we saw some baitfish breaking out of the water, but we neither saw, caught,or marked a single fish. The water was between 65-69 degrees and green all day.
At the end of the day with an hour or so to kill,we filleted the 4 bluefish we DID catch, and started a small slick with them, and the bunker we'd brought. After about 45 minutes,we had a taker on a bluefish filet. We set up on him,he took a pretty good run,but then Mase put the brakes on him, however,he rolled up in the wire, and broke off the mono,we're guessing a small bluedog. I'm blaming the full moon. ![]() |

I am thinking of going out a day this week and probably Saturday. The fish forecast hasn't been to good lately. I was thinking about giving sharking a try but that has been slow as well.
Hopefully something will happen soon. VC |
