    email Friday

I use my stepson's names when I reel in a fish he wasn't onboard that day. Cape Rover and MCZ as well as my friends's son Brian (first trip in the ocean)

Mr. Danny Whiting and Captain Richard Betts-

A 45 pound bluefin you tagged on October 14, 2006 off of Georges Bank was recaptured in Cape Cod Bay on August 23, 2009. At the time of recapture the fish was 65 inches, with a girth of 44 inches. Congratulations to both of you for tagging a fish which was recaptured. I have sent certificates of congratulations to you both and will send you t-shirts as well. Can you please provide me with you t-shirt size, so that I may send the correct size? Recapture data helps fisheries conservation and biological science. We appreciate your support and your involvement in the Tag A Tiny Program.

I have copied Ms. Becca Toppin of the Large Pelagics Research Lab at the University of New Hampshire. Becca works wit the Tag A Tiny Program and can provide you with additional information about the program and the ways in which it benefits the ocean.

    Best Regards,

We tagged 6 that day all about the same size as the picture 42ish inches That fish was the only one we took out of the water for Brian's grip n grins photo. The rest we tagged and released in the water. I think we tagged this fish in the water then grabbed it for the photo as that was our MO back then.

just goes to show you that these fish don't learn their lesson the first time they get a lip ring!! they forget about the pain and come back for seconds!!

congrats that's a great story and a great testiment to the fact that catch and release is ok and it doesn't hurt the survival rate of the fish...the live!!

    Rich,

I remember that post. That is AWESOME that it was recaptured!!

I love the "kids catching fish" photos and stories as you know.

Good for you. Don and Matt must be happy as well.

I remember that trip well. The smile on the kids face when he first saw the fish was unbelievable. He fought that fish great and we had a ton of laughs. That email sure was cool.
Those are the best trips when a kid gets hooked on fishing.

We are excited that the return came back. To put forth the effort and see a result means alot. What we are seeing out there this year with the many different age class fish that our efforts are starting to work
