Does it count as a "skunk" if you catch a striper, but you can't keep him 'cuz you are in the EEZ?...I really dont want to chalk up 7 hours of drive time and 6 hours of fishing as an official skunk.
The fog sucked yesterday again. All day long. 4 fish for 30 boats, not a good bite day. We managed one at 64 inches in the middle of the morning on a green brown splash bar looooong rigger. Nice fish. Lots of bass out there and a few bluefish that "ate" my rigs. I'll be out in the am then I am taking a few days off for the full moon fever to go through. The bite on Thursday was much better and we went 2-4 and landed a 66 and released a 68 inch fish and broke off a much bigger fish. The bite was on for hours and most boats caught them. Good luck Capt. Eric
We're looking at Monday to go ourselves, unless the weather does a 180. With the tides the way they are, it'll be tough, but we'll give it a shot anyway.
As I write this Sat. a.m. , the 44018 has got 13.6 kts. W with 3 ft. @ 8 sec. That's a just over the comfort level for our bonecrushing hull.
If anyone wants to shoot a PM with a report, I'll return the favor Monday evening. If anyone goes Monday, Coda on 68.
The fog was horrendous yesterday; never broke - we bailed at 1and left in 50 yard vis. 12 miles from the point it opened up and I figured we'd get a break - no such luck.
It closed down to 25 visibility a mile from the point and for 3 miles into the Sound.
Good fun watching a boat round the point the other way on radar and steam straight at yo at speed then to wave at the nice 23' center console with no radar as it planed on by.
