East of Stellwagen

I ran east of Stellwagen yesterday to take a few guys out for cod and haddock. There were LOTS of boats chasing tuna, and from the radio chatter is sounded like a few guys hooked up.

First place we tried was around 230 feet. Too many dogs. I went farther east and deeper to improve the good fish to dogfish ratio. It worked. Fishing mostly 320 - 340 feet they ended up with a nice mix of cod, haddock and pollack to 12 pounds. They also caught cusk, pout, and white hake. All on jigs and teasers. On the way in, they caugt a few bass and blues at Race Point. And if you add in the greater shearwater that hit a top-water plug, they had a pretty good species list for the day.

How far east (off) did you end up

See any tuna on top?

Did you use any clams on the teasers?

I was a little shy of 30 miles east of Marshfield. And while I didn't see any tuna on top, I've seen tuna in this general area in the past. We did see a 7 - 8' blue shark on the surface though. The guys had a nice whale show too. Nothing on the teasers -- just plastic.

You bet Chumtini -- ran for the barn and was watching the storm about 1.5 miles from us on radar. Really looked nasty to the north.
