    What will actually come of this storm remains to be seen, but regardless this is still one nasty forecast for the Gulf of Maine:

    Tropical storm conditions expected Fri
    Hurricane conditions expected Fri night into Sat


    Forecast as of 10:30 PM EDT on September 1, 2010

    Gulf Of Maine To The Hague Line

    Thu Night
    SW winds diminishing to 10 to 15 kt. Seas 5 to 9 ft with S to se swell...highest se.

    Fri
    NW portion...winds shifting to E and increasing to 20 to 30 kt. Seas 6 to 10 ft. Se portion...S to se winds 15 to 20 kt increasing to E 30 to 40 kt. Seas building to 10 to 16 ft. Showers and tstms developing.

    Fri Night
    E to NE winds 35 to 50 kt...except se portion increasing to 50 to 65 kt and to 80 kt near the center of Earl. Seas building to 14 to 26 ft...except se portion to 26 to 40 ft...highest se.

    Sat
    Tropical storm conditions...except E portion hurricane conditions expected early. Winds then diminishing to W to SW 20 to 30 kt late. Seas subsiding to 6 to 11 ft late...highest E.

    Hopefully we do not see anything close to that in the near shore waters. Stay safe everyone, this is not one to mess with!

    Georges Bank...From The Northeast Channel To The Great SouthChannel Including Waters East Of Cape Cod...To The Hague Line

    Thu Night
    SW winds 10 to 15 kt...except SW portion becoming S to se late. Seas building to 8 to 11 ft with S swell...highest SW. Showers and tstms developing late.

    Fri
    S to se winds 10 to 20 kt increasing to 40 to 55 kt...except W portion 55 to 65 kt late. Seas building to 10 to 16 ft...except SW portion to 16 to 24 ft. Showers and tstms.

    Fri Night
    S to SW winds 50 to 70 kt...except to 80 kt near the center of Earl. Winds then becoming W to SW and diminishing to 35 to 50 kt late. Seas building to 22 to 40 ft early...then subsiding to 18 to 30 ft late.

    Sat
    Tropical storm conditions early...diminishing to W to SW winds 20 to 30 kt late. Seas subsiding to 8 to 13 ft late...highest E.

    Anyone up for a canyon overnighter friday? .....huh....wow looks a little bumpy out there. I will be on boat watch this weekend I guess, down in scituate, I am sure I will see a few of you down there. Good luck to all during this massive storm.
