The "qualifier" made its way to the east side of the dump to check out that interesting piece of 75 degree water that has pushed up. Decided to shoot to Block Saturday night for a little excitement, and got an early start Sunday morning.
The AM was FAC and made for a quick ride out. As soon as we got off the eastern edge we hit the break (68-73.5). Didn't have time to get a second line wet before we came tight on a 32" yellow.
Took a few yellows and a couple decent mahi early on that break and then decided to push out south east to explore. Ran about 8 miles off the south east corner before I decide to turn back and concentrate on the edge. Got back on the eastern side and we were back in the mix of things. All of the fish were small, some sub legal, although we didn't see too many of them. The majority of the fish we took were 30-35" fish.
While they wern;t huge, it was fun to see yellows within my range. All in all it was a great day for a small boat to catch some yellowfin!
Caught my very first LFT yesterday in the middle of the dump on a mini green machine - small fish at 33 inches. That was followed several hours later by another just SE of the NE corner, on the same mini green machine, in 72 degree water. In each case there were no birds, whales, bait or other signs of life. On the way home SE of the claw saw small balls of bait busting out of the water, nothing on the finder and no hookups.
