    Downsizing. New boat advice needed

I am in the market for a smaller boat. I sold my Contender at the end of the season and am looking for something in the 24-26' range with a deep V decent electronics and a small budget to 30K. Either an I/O or outboard. It has been a long time since I looked at smaller boats so I am in need of advice. I don't need a boat that has Canyon range as I will be fishing those trips on friends Cabo. Looking for a boat that can fish out East and south of the Islands to the Dump, gully, star etc.. (on good days) and handle the snot coming back through the sound. Also need a head for the wife.

    Thanks

    Jon

    Jon,

$30k says older used boat to me because you will not be happy in anything new in that price range.

As you know, I fish those areas on my Reg 23. Though I don't think a 5 gallon bucket qualifies as a head...
So a 1998(-ish) Reg 26 might be had for that coin in this economy. If you don't want a CC then look at
a used Carolina Classic 25. But do your research on them. They are not fast and some models had issues.

    Just some ideas....

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know if the budget is realistic. I might just end up being boatless for the summer. That would be the first time in a very long time.

Just did a quick yachtworld search and there are a few 26' regulators out there. Most of them have older 2-stroke yammies. I also saw a couple 24' Silverhawks. From what I can tell they are a stretched out 23' SeaCraft. Both of those were Mercruiser I/O powered. All were in your stated price range.

This one looked interesting, I just don't like the open transom. That's kind of scary.

This ones got new power but still has high hours. Looks fishy though.

Due to the nature of Mr. Obama's economy, this may be had within your price range if your interested.

my 2 cents 22-26 foot will get you off shore on the good days and you can still get tight to the rocks i would try to find one with one big outboard motor. 2 motors twice the problems. once i find a 25 parker sport cabin ill give you a SMOKING deal on my 22 pro line has every thing you want and then some. 30k gets you a lot of boat these days so take your time and if you dont absolutely love the boat dont get it. also before you buy it post it on here and get everyones input again lots of knowledge on here good luck..

    Hi Jon,

My name is Damon, and I work as a broker for Buzzards Bay Yacht Sales. I have a 30 foot Grady White Marlin listed for 33,900...the seller will probably accept around 31k...boat is LOADED...including custom tower platform on the hard top for spotting tuna. 50 hrs on new rebuilt 225 outboards. Boat is local...very nice shape and worth looking at if you like Grady's. Let me know. Id be more than happy to fill you in. 508-221-5136--Damon
