Just thought I would update on the Bruno my dad picked up not too long ago. I posted that she would be getting some work done to her and that we would be taking her on her "maiden voyage" to us over to the Bahamas. Well she has a new pilot house and decks along with new windows that really give her an updated look. The hull still needs paint but we are waiting to haul her this summer and do the bottom as well as the hull all at the same time. All the stuff we did to her this time was able to be done at her slip. Take a look at her old self and then take a look at the updated version. Big difference in my opinion.
Here she is in Bimini in March!!! The trip over was miserable in about a 25+kt SE wind and 6-8 ft headsea with about a 5 second interval but the Bruno ate it up taking waves over the bow and charging right through it at 11kts. We knew she could take it so we charged it towards Bimini. Stayed for a few days and were blown out most of the trip but we did get a little spearfishing in and got some lobster on the protected areas. Honestly we probably should have brought our surfboards b/c we could have surfed on N Bimini the whole damn trip! No bonefish b/c the flats were murky and rough. The trip home was amazing, 2-4 N swell with about a 10 kt wind. We still made 11-12kts but we were able to hang out on the bridge with a few Kaliks all the way home. Caught a few dolphin and some blackfin tuna dragging good ole cedar plugs on the way home but nothing really big to speak of. Anyways, just wanted to give an update on an old downeast that made it's way to the islands of the Bahamas. July is the Abacos trip! Should be awesome!!!
At the Bimini Bluewater Marina
Clearing the Bimini Seabuoy on the way home
Cleaning a small Hogfish I shot just before we started heading home.
