"If at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving"
A couple of good articles which essentially say wait and see which is reasonable:

“It’s obvious that any egg or larvae encountering oil will die,” said Molly Lutcavage, director of a research center on large fish and turtles at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst."
What I guess is getting tough is the fact that little tidbits like apparently the data that suggest they may spawn at different times/locations is only released as needed. I understand it's a competitive environment but it's all the more reason federal money should be spent to do the research and make it public.
Especially with the current situation federal money should be spent - even if BP is the one paying for it to study the effects of the oil on the fish, find out where they really do spawn etc. it would seem a wise person could dovetail the research nicely and get BP to pick up the tab as after all it needs to be done because of their mess.
KP161 wasn't a criticism at all just pointing out we all have biases. I hope you're right about where they spawn. Like I said BP should be the one picking up the tab to study it either way.
