    Dogfish...

How many of you would give money to send someone to Washington to lobby for more dogfish quota? I spoke with some people the other day, they were complaining that they can not even set a hook on Georges now due to the dogs and it was January! What if we addressed the situation through an outlet like the (and I can't believe I am saying this) the Cape Cod Hook Association, they have a great policy analyst named Ben who might be willing if we could garner enough support to go to the ASMFC and the Mid Atlantic States and try to get a more liberal quota on dogs as to maybe help us all out in the future. We need to thin this heard it is getting worse every minute and its time commercial and rec interests got together and fought this battle together instead of on our own...Doug

what we need to develop is a strain of dogfish AIDS. Infect a few male's with it and set them free. One of them gets a little frisky with a dog ***** or two and the AIDS chain gets a rollin. Anyone know a crazy scientist???

On a serious note, that seems like the way to go Doug. Ill be commercially fishin for dogs this year, its the least I could do to put a tlittle dent in the pop.

Its a fight that needs to be fought. Some goods thoughts. I know I would be willing to jump in. The day this summer when I had a 9lb bluefish eaten to the rack, while on a hook, in 15 minutes time has officially put me over the edge. Never seen that many dogs as on that day.

    Doug,
Where do I sign up? We were on the way to Tails last summer for the night, when about 6 miles south of Block Island, we saw a massive amount of fish on the surface. Thinking that we'd take some bait to the edge that night, the first cast and guess what? Dogfish. It was unbelievable. They were just rolling on the surface, eating whatever was there. Even with a case of grenades, you couldn't have eliminated the number that we saw. Protected species my ass. The worst is jigging on Coxes and having to reel in your sea bass as fast as possible before the dogs get them. Something is way wrong.............they are a plague.
