you gotta wonder if this show is gonna hurt the comm fishing seeing with just one episode into the season there were a couple things that lets just say stood out...the gaff and release on the pup sword the dart and gaff on the mako that "must be carefully set free" now i know sharks heal up quick so the gaff ok but to then hold up a fresh cut jaw of a mako at the end if we can spot that you know some tree hugging animal rights lover can

I work for a seafood distributor. It was the talk of the industry this morning. The general consensus was great here we go again. More bad press. PETA will be all over this. Especially the sword and tuna guys. They've worked so hard to promote to people that the sword fishery is sustainable again after the chef boycott a few years ago.

    Cool

Its a wonder that these stupid portions , of what otherwize was a pretty good show, were not an intentional atempt to get tree huggers panties in a wad and then active in the issue ? if so, I think it worked!

It is either that or the producers are pretty lame.

I was just looking to make a comment about the new Swords show on disc. channel, but this is a real nice site. I'm still gonna make my comment though. I've been fishing all my life, freshwater, largemouth, But I like watching deep sea fishing and have been a couple times, but the people on these boats really make my butt suck buttermilk with the way they treat some off the greenhorns. Some of these guys have never even been fishing. Their just kids mostly and I don't see the need to talk to them like their scum. Most of these guys have no skills in the working world to begin with and then they are put on a boat with no clue as to what they are even gonna be doing. I personally think they should have some on shore training before they ever leave the dock. But I have watched the same thing happen on deadliest catch, the crab fishing show. I'm sorry but I'm a grown man and I wouldn't have a clue as to how to do any of this stuff either, I could learn it pretty fast but like I said these are kids, I concider 19-20 year olds kids. I'm sorry, I just don't feel it nessasary to yell, scream and cuss these guys when they are doing the best they can. 10 to 1 odds the guys doing all the cussing were in the same position as these greenhorns. OK, if they don't get better after the first day, then they either don't care or they don't have the potential of ever doing it. There is nothing easy about this work, ecspecially in a storm trying to do a difficult job to begin with. I'm sure the cameras bring on 90% of it, some of these idiots trying to act like bigshots and thier nothing but grunts themselves. Sorry for the long post, I just don't feel it nessasary.

Anyone else rooting for this Capt. Chompers guy to have a bad trip and lose everything? Just seems like such a d-bag, and doesn't deserve to be out in that fleet.

Isn't all that yelling and screaming kind of like boot camp?

In response to Dueys post. Its called the true school of hard knocks. There's a reason these guys don't want to be on land......ever. So they don't have to deal with pussies. And no I'm not calling anyone names here, it's just how they feel. Many of them have zero people skills. But in crunch time, you want them on your side. If you only had a small amount of knowledge on what it takes to do the job, and lets not mention, any and every day could be your last. Hell, that young blond surf punk almost went over the side of the boat!! Thats no place to be all sweet and cuddly. IMO that kid should have been sent packing when he walked the surfboard to the boat, not really sure what the Capt. was thinking even letting the kid on the boat. His buddy had never even seen him work before, had no idea of his work ethics nor as to how tough the kid was.

As for Linda, well, she's got my vote! I'd work with the woman any day!

School of Hardknocks is right, these people could die out there and if you F up there is no second try at it. I would not have a kid bring a surfboard on my boat that's fo sure!

Anyone know any of these guys on the show?
