I just read a thread from noreast.com about a guy who caught a small bluefin while cod fishing off the cape on the helen H on the 2nd of december. I wonder when they will leave? Does that mean he wins the harpoon?

There are SBFT in RI sound right now...this confirmed as I was delivered some fresh steaks.......buddy had a massive blitz all surface action while anchored on a rock pile toggin......
Giants were at Watch Hill last week and Nebraska Shoal, huge schools of SBFT just off Montauk and OTW is reporting tuna still at SWC in good numbers...
they were off East Chop in V Sound before the blow, with the herring and gannetts ... like every year ... used to watch them off the Narragansett rocks the week after THNX like clockwork ... everything later this year ... should've been slow trolling WWB naked ballyhoo in '60 last two days
I was on the Helen H that day that not one but two blue fins were boated. One was under 47 the other over 47. I switced out the cod jig for a cape cod sand eel lure and was tight on the first cast. After running up and down the boat the mate said that if the fish was not over 72 inches the fish would have to be relased, it was under 72 so it was relased. Switched back to the cod jig and filled the frezzer with cod
