Sorry for the late report but tons of work to get done and sick as a dog don't play well together. Saturday I had returning guests John and the Webstah "hey" boys. These guys booked a shark trip with me last summer and were taunted by tuna popping the entire way out to the grounds. They wanted shark bad so shark it was. We caught a dozen blue sharks and pulled the hook on a monster thresher which hit the live blue on the kite after an hr and half battle.
This year was tuna. We left Green Harbor at 4:30am and were not stopping until we saw good life. We rolled up to a whale feed that was second to none so out went the rigs. I immediately started marking tons of bait and a few really nice tuna marks. 8:00 the short corner bar gets slammed and Eric (The shark angler) gets belted up and 20 minutes later I leader and On the edge "stick the fin fish" seals the deal. Fish tapes out at 58" and perfect fattie for the charter.
We switch over to bait for the rest of the day and start to jig up some nice cod under the bait. You can probably figure out where this one is going. John and I get the pit cleaned up and I tell the guys to reel up. 5 cranks up and charlie hammers the jig and snap. We had snagged a pot a couple drifts earlier and never backed the drag off. On a side note we had a sealine cod rod out and a torx LD out. Take a guess which one he hit.
The amount of bait was staggering and more fish seem to be showing up daily. Can't wait to get out there next weekend. See you guys out there and good luck.
Capt Chris
