    Crewsaver liferaft... opinions?

    Hi all,

I have been shopping around for a quality 'new to me' 6-8 man liferaft for the upcoming season to be mounted on the forward deck of a 28 Carolina Classic.

I am thinking to purchase an available CrewSaver - 6 man, with canopy, a hydro-static hardcase with the mounting bracket for $1500. It was last packed in 2005... and is in need of new service.
The glass case looks to be in near mint condition... raft never deployed.

I have visited the CrewSaver website... and it appears that they may no longer manufacture commercial liferafts.

I am looking for opinions on CrewSaver rafts. Anyone use them???

Also... should anyone else have a raft for sale?

    Thank you,

    Jim

FWIW - I just serviced my 4 man valise Plastimo which had last been serviced in 2007. Cost was ~1100$ for the repack as well as the restock of flares, water, etc.

Factor the repack cost into your purchasing decision.

At $1500 for a 2007 raft I would buy new.
Cost of repack is going to be atleast a grand.

exactly what i was thinking, the raft is going to need the full blown 5 year inspection, pretty much everything replaced.. call a service center,if possible get a quote.. if not, get a new one.

If it is a used raft you want. Somthign like this would be a better value. http://www.thebassbarn.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=247975

But as stated above, expect to pay for the repack.

    liferaft

Thanks for all the advice. I think we are leaning towards just getting a new raft, afterall.
