My plan last Tues was to head to coxes but never got past Mud Hole. With the water temp, and the way the FF lit up I couldn't keep going, and it paid off with a small fish....

After this storm passes it will be interesting to see what the warm water does.....I'd love to see a serious Mud Hole Mahi bite

    Alloy

Alloy , Thanks for the intel, I will be waching my fish finder very closely on the way out for sure. Hope the warm water comes even closer to us next week. It will make for a shorter ride and more fishing time. Where do you put in. New Bedford , Dartmouth, Westport ? Thanks Leighton ( FINATIC ) ch 68

    Leighton,
I usually launch at the top of the Pt. Judith salt pond "Hanson's" but it's a 4 mile run thru the pond...and about 20-25 miles to coxes. I'm not sure but I think it's closer to Westport in running distance.

Wayward this could get real interesting for sure You're a good man for doing that mid-season maint. I just went through and did a "system check" myself....I find myself throwing crap here and there throughout the season, combine that with all that fish with me and their habits and by this time of year I feel like Sanford & Son Great time to regroup while Bill passes bye.....

    Ramp

    Alloy,
Thanks for the update on the ramp situation, I would be coming up from the Cape area, (Buzzrads Bay) I am familiar with Dartmouth & New Bedford and have never been out of Westport. Dartmouth has the Padanarum Bridge to contend with, but I am sure I can get under, or just call for an opening if I have to. New Bedford is a good bet with no bridges. I was in Westport last weekend, and the guys at the ramp tell me its a great one to use, even with a boat of my size (27 Footer) So maybe I'll try that one if I go. They say it takes about 20 mins to get out because of the NO WAKE zone in the Harbor. Thanks agin . Leighton

    Leighton,
There is always Falmouth. Hoop and i use Falmouth when we go south of the island. It may be a little more water time, but less trialer time. You do have to run down vinyard sound. But gay head to the middle of cox is only about 23 miles or so.. It is another option.

Leighton - we trailer out of Wesport for trips south. It's a good ramp, and only downside being the no wake ride out as mentioned. There is a ledge just outside of the ramp that could ruin your day if you weren't paying attention to the buoy's, but just check the chart before pulling out. There is some tidal current, but nothing crazy. I think they charge $5 for parking (may have gone up). Coxes is @ 25m from the harbor entrance. The only other thing to be mindful of is the harbor entrance can be a nightmare if a big swell is running. Narrow w/ breaking waves on the shoulders.

It will be interesting to see what Bill will do to the water out there. Let's stay in touch - I'm thinking about when to make the run as well, but may have to go out of town for work next weekend...

    Falmouth

    On the Edge,
Do you guys go in your 22 foot Pro-Line?I kinda forgot about Falmouth, and I'm familiar with it to. Just never thought to go far away, then further away in the oposite direction. I guess either way its still a run with the Truck or Boat.

    Johnathan,
I will keep in touch, I still have your number in the cell phone. Maybe let the swells go away for a few days, and then a trip out there? Westport sounds like I should make a dry run in & out of the harbor during the day light so I can see what I'm up against ???? Or follow you out ?
