Based upon my non-scientific internet creeping and my more realiable but only slightly first hand buddy accounts, I would think it is finally worth it to make a trip with the temps just above 40 and the cod moving into shallower water its time...to bad I am fishless and stranded in Lousianna.
We went sunday morning and although it was a decent day did not catch a thing. Fished every spot that normally produces this time of year, jigs and clams neither could land us a fish.
Make sure your jig is about 5 feet of the bottom there are plenty of cod out there right now but you have to weed throu the shorts to find them. The action has been well for us the past two trips. The water is coming up a little more which is helping but also pushing the haddock a little deeper. All fish were caught on 5 and 7 oz butterfly jigs.
