    COASTAL CHARTERS TUNA UPDATE

To say this season has been fantastic would be an understatement. Since May 25th, every trip out except for 2(of the 29 so far) as seen good action, with multiple hookups the norm. The past few weeks I have been out every day, from as far north as jeffries down to the sword area and off Chatham, with multiple stops in between. Some days the fishing is just off the charts good, while the very next day they get picky and sparse. These fish are of the 70-72.5 inch models for the most part, but we have landed 2 slot fish so far, and released a bunch of low 60 inch class as well, a good sign that there are multiple year classes preesent and feeding. The past few dyas I have seen more and more pods of footballs in the 30-40 inch class, but they have proved thus far to be impossible to keep up with or feed when we do.

We have had a few incredible trips of late, including the best bite of the year two days ago in the NW slop, where we had 20 plus bites, 12 fights of varying length, 3 to the boat and released and a few lost commercial fish due to frayed/snapped leaders or pulled hooks near end game, all on spinning gear.

here a just a few of the pics from a few recent trips:

Dom - Those shots with the shearwaters are sick. Do you have hi-res images? I would like to frame the one with tuna looking up and the back of the shearwater facing the camera.

Wow, talk about covering some ground Dom, but then again it's just what a tuna guide does I guess! Way to go bud, and I love them shots of the bluefin raising some feathers!!
