Choppy ride out, lines in at 7:15. Hit a temperature break just south of the claw from 74 to 72 to 75. In the cooler water hooked up with a white marlin on a skirted ballyhoo for about 90 seconds before it spit the hook. We were surprised, since most of the marlin reports mentioned 66 degree water. About 5 miles further south, closer to the fingers than the claw, hooked a 45 inch or so BFT on a skirted ballyhoo (same rod) that we LOST AT THE BOAT to a main line that parted after hitting the side of the boat and a nephew who is experienced but who has been working too hard at his real job this summer to be out on the boat before now (rusty). No other opportunity. Glad to touch base with Sortie today ( Ryan C). With the price of gas and a big ocean out there, it makes sense to share intel whenever possible.
