CITES Dogfish?

Have we heard if the mighty PEW and Oceana were able to implement a Dogfish ban?

Because the dogfish are sooooooo threatened

Its not that dogfish are endangered here...they are non existent in other countries....I agree that it is foolish to put a Cites 2 listing on them but in other countries where they once were like Norway, I think, they are gone...

Dogfish has not been decided on yet. I asked someone over there about it last night since I was curious myself. Will keep you posted....hopefully the proposal fails miserably.

Once again, because the stock is depleted in another area doesn't mean that we should take the brunt of it.

They are a plague.

One of my clam suppliers who dogfishes doesn't even use hooks to catch them. There are so many of them they gaff them.

They were doing alot of the old gaff technique this summer. Hang 5 bluefish over the side and a little target practice you could get your limit in under an hour.

It will never happen. Talked to a few people today that said some crazy french lady....also involved with BFT. This will never pass. Also the biomass is only 2.5% below record highs.....I thought you would like that one!

Dogfish was voted down today!

All shark proposals failed with the exception of porbeagle, which was put on Appendix II.
