    Chatham qustions

Anybody got any recent Chatham tuna experience to share? Been very quiet here on the forum. Hoping to go Friday . . .and if there are smaller fish, that's what I'd like to learn.

Also, anyone have any fluke advice in the area surrounding the tip of Monomoy? May give that a whirl if I've got an extra hour or two. Thanks.

Fished by the BC yesterday, fog in the early am. Morning slack fish breaking all around but wanted to eat nothing we had (bars, bally, casting at them etc). Cool watching Giants get completely out of the water but very frustrating at the same time. Fish only on the surface for seconds then back down deep. Afternoon slack nothing. Saw 2 boats the whole day and no chatter on the radio. Everything from Giants breaking to now legal fish. Some weed in the water so check rigs often. Heard it has been like this for a while. Not sure what they were feeding on.

    Jon,

They are on sand eels based on what the blue fish were puking up. I have heard they are also on little herring, but I have only seen sand eels spit up on my deck.

And yes it is frustrating as hell. You are not alone. It is even tougher in the fog...

We were so desprite we even tried an eel down deep on a planer...still no love!!! Not even a sniff. We had a couple of Giants get airborne right by the side of the boat. You could almost reach out and touch them.
Think it is time to make the trip to the Lanes after hearing Larry's reports. You interested in going?

    Jon,

I have been toying with the idea of eels... Interesting results.

This is a very similar feeling I get when chasing Bones and Falsies. My kids have threatened to bring a bag of rocks. We can hit them in the head as they jump by the boat. Can a fish give you the finger?

Thanks to the mid-range search and destroy mission by LB, the Lanes sound very interesting. Unfortunately, I am out of the game for a couple weeks. Going to visit the in-laws.... I will be back in early Aug. But when I get back, I would love to go with you. We have been trying to get together for a couple years. Let's make it happen.

Same report as Waggles from yesterday. Only differences were that I stayed closer to Nauset. Most fish in 175' of water (at least that I saw), heard about fish closer to shore among the blues and stripers, but I missed that action. Likewise, followed fish jumping clean out of the water. Started heading toward BC around noon, almost ran over some tuna. 2 quick casts and no joy. Routinely about 5-10 seconds of splashing and jumps.
