We welcomed William Saltanstall and crew onboard for a trip to the canyons. Blasted out to Fish Tails and found a patch of very blue 74 to 80 degree water. Saw tons of big eagle rays and even a 30 plus foot whale shark. That was a first! We picked up a bunch of small yellowfin to 30 pounds and one nice 60 pounder. Also missed a marlin...small blue or white...never saw close enough. The night bite was dead...other than when we hooked and fought a ray for an hour. We were one of 3 boats to hook a big manta. Thats how many were around. I decided to pick up and run to west atlantis...and Im glad I did! We found a huge school of dolphin feeding on squid. 2 acres of life right on the 100 fathom line just to the west of the canyon. It was fishy to say the least. And sure enough whitewater exploded behind the boat and rods started screaming. We caught big yellowfin...real fish to solid 70 pounds...one after the other. It was nice to get away from the rats....these were all real fish. This frenzy made the trip without a doubt and sent these guys home with a ton of fresh sashimiWe were supposed to do a turn around trip and be right back out there but my charter had a medical emergency and we slept in yesterday and today and did some rigging for the block island tri-state tourney. Well be right back at it on monday. Im thin king about trying the water over near hydrographer canyon. Looking forward to a weekend off with the family. Tight lines
