Rope a Dope, Sharkin, Bass & Blues
It’s Friday and time to provision Seaker for this weekends adventures. However before we get ahead of ourselves it’s lobstah checkin time. Pull the pots with SR and see what our bounty is? We get a late start but begin to work in earnest and all is going quite smoothly ….until…..I have one pot with floating rope and it needs to get changed out. We pull the pot and change out the rope. The old rope is now on the floor of the boat with no name. Rob decides to pitch it overboard after I yell at him not to. No worry’s he says it’s sinking and we head to pull his next pot when the motor stops abruptly. I don’t even have to look we have run over the rope he just pitched and we are dead in the water being pushed towards a granite wall with a running tide. He says something about himself not being very bright and I concur as I yell brace yourself and we hit the wall. The side of the boat with no noame is being abraided on by the granite as a boat comes by leaving a nifty wake in the no wake zone with SR hanging over the backside of the vessel cutting like a mad man to free his boat from his stupidity….Rope a Dope!
Sharkin
We took out a great group of two dads and their high school sons for their first sharkin expedition. After a spectacular early departure
We set up about seventy five miles to the south. First up was one of the sons with his first ever Mako
Then Corey’s son got a great blue shark followed right behind with Matt who found out that large blue sharks are no pushover
We then completed our sweep with Corey getting the biggest one of the day and a great work out
That’s an 80 pound outfit he’s putting the bend on..
Four first time sharkers each with a released beast ..mission accomplished!
Bass & Blues
Sunday it was another change up Bass & Bluefish for a friend and his father in law from Wisconson..
We left Bourne and ran to Race Point for a change of scenery and tackle. That place just continues to deliver and I always like the view of the Race. We started off jigging some wire and the guys got into a rhythm and joy was quickly found. We found some good activity and Cappy Say once again did his magic and grabbed a spinning rod with a quick cast he was tight and handed the rod to Bert. Bert was pumped on the light tackle and Jay got jiggy widit and two seconds later was tight..gave that rod to Peter and jigged another and we had our fisrt triple on…Bert got into a zone not unlike the golfing priest in CaddyShack. He began casting like a pro and went fish for every cast.one after another…Man he was on fire with enough endorphins going off his heart rate was either pegged or he was in a trance whatever it was workin and he had Cappy Say releasing fish like some auto dehooker…Jay had sweat flyin everywhere. Bert was tight to another a special fish according to Bert..It’s was. It was Bert’s first Striper a nice fish and Cappy Say had the net good to go..Bert stopped reeling as the fish was just out of range. Cappy Say went after that trophy with the only thing left in the boat his shoes I actually ran back and grabbed him as I thought he was going for a swim
Sorry about the photo quality but the grin says it all
Bert’s last feat of the day was double on one lure again sorry about the photo quality
Yeah there’s two on one lure here
We left and called the lobstah man and they went back to Peter’s Home in Boston with a Cape Cod version of surf and turf..Striper and Lobstah!
