The best was Mark Godfried was like "its not the biggest tuna I ve seen but its up there." Then we put it on the scale and he proceeded to tell me "its the 2 nd biggest fish he has weighed in his life. It was the biggest he s weight in America. But way way back he weight one bigger that was caught in a fish trap in Italy.

Seen a few larger specimens in North America over the years. I remember an incredible fish that came off a longliner in Panama City, Florida back in 1986, with a "true" dressed weight of 1285 lbs. And there were a couple individuals landed in Antigonish, Nova Scotia during the late 1990's that dressed at 1300 lbs...
