I recently dragged my boat up to our place on the Cape and like everyone else, have tuna fever. I have an Accurate 665 reel and am looking to find a vertical jigging rod for jigging tuna off Chatham and up on Stellwagon. The few times I got out last year, I used my heavy bass rod (a Calstar Graphiter 20-40 lb rod), but am wondering if I should invest in one of those short parabolic Shimano or Saltiga rods dedicated to butterfly jigging or whether I should be looking at a heavier Calstar to deal with the increasing size of the last three years BFTs. I am actually hoping that I can get up to speed on some footballs first, but know they've been few and far between the last few years.
I already have a Saragosa 18000 Van Staal jigging set-up, but wanted to put together set up another outfit and I like the Accurate.
Any thoughts?
