I was asked by my boss last week to run his 24' Hydrasport on Saturday for stripers. We left Plymouth and I ran the boat to a spot down in Cape Cod Bay that always used to produce very large fish. We got there and was greeted by a half hour down pour and got soaked. So far the trip is feeling hardly worth it. I set out two large silver bunker spoons on a 100 yards of wire and we began trolling. The first hit came quick but the fish dropped it quickly. Then we got 2 dogfish. My boss then began the humurous banter of me getting laid off if the real fish don't hit the deck.About fifteen minutes later the first real strike and my bosses friend Frank makes short work of a nice fat 42" bass. Things are looking better, my boss is now happy. 10 minutes later the second fish strikes and I am told to get on the rod. I new this fish was bigger. A short time later I tie my personal best striper with a 46" pig of a fish. Not sure the weight but I'll guess it went 30+ pounds maybe 35. Then a short time later we put another solit 38" fish in the box. All this action came within 2 hours and we were back to the dock before the real storms hit. Nice change of pace from the lack of tuna fishing lately.
