    Cape Cod Bay Striper Report

Steamed out of Sesuit yesterday just before noon (dead low tide) intending to take advantage of the flat calm conditions to zoom up to Race Point and possibly around the back side which is always amazingly alive with bait, fish, whales, porpoises, etc this time of year. Well we didn't make it very far before we found concentrated flocks of working birds and good sized fish splashing on the surface.

We threw out some swimming lures on light tackle and sure enough we were tight within minutes. First fish was short, making me worry that we found a bunch of schoolies, but the next dozen were all nice fat keepers up to 40" We kept 7 (amongst 4 of us) and decided to head off to Barnstable looking for macks to keep for tuna season.

Macks were nowhere to be found -- guess all the stripers chased them away, but no matter. I'll take a half dozen huge stripers any day.

The Striper fishing was amazing, every drop back, "every drop back!" BAMMM! Fish On! The most time I waited for a hook up was 30 seconds. In no time I used up all the live Macs and started using dead ones, the dead ones were working great too, just had to give them a little action.
We could have stayed and kept catching Stripers but we were beat from a long day jigging.
A day out bait fishing turned out to be the best day Striper fishing I have had so far this year. Their was a mix of sizes from 25" to 40".
