Canyon Trip 8/9

Headed out to Hudson Canyon on Friday. Started the troll on Sat. morning. Nothing till noon. Headed to the 100 square with about 100 other boats. Hooked up after 15 minutes, 3 eyeballs hit the spread, the first snapped our bird off, i set the hook on the second and my buddy the third. Fought mine for about 1/12 hour and boated it. His went on 3 hours on a International 30w. Ran out of line on a big run and snapp swiveled a International 50w setup on and through the 30w over. Started to gain on her and got the 30w back. 10 more minutes and the rod splintered 6 inches from the tip. Back down like crazy, gain some line, cut and splice back to the 50w. Finally get her to the boat, and get a look. Giant big eye! Big power run and SNAP!!!! Gone. Later on that day we tagged a couple of small Blue Marlin. Next morning boated another eyeball. Not bad for my first canyon trip..

I can't say that I would have let someone throw one of my 30's over with a snap on it. That took some cajones. Glad it worked out for you!
