    Camera Recommendations/Reviews?

I've been "semi searching" for a new photo camera and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions. Looking to try to keep my limit @ around $450.

We currently use Canon, JVC, and Go Pro products for our video. My girlfriend recently purchased a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera which has been unreal, but a little out of my price range, and a little too big for what I want. Need something a little smaller, but can still take quick, quality action photos.

I've been looking at the Nikon Coolpix P500; kind of seems like a hybrid between a DSLR and a point and shoot digital..? Review? Suggestion?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks a lot,
    -Bryan

Shoot Canon and you can't go wrong. B&H Photo has as large a selection, on all types of equipment, as you will find. Top notch business, very reliable, and can't beat their prices. I've spent over $15,000.00 with them and have had zero problems. www.BandH.com

    Give Bromfield Camera A Try

I would offer Bromfield Camera in Boston as the place to go Local and the customer service is the way it should be. Russ and the gang do a fabulous job and get you anything and everything related to photo and video.

Out of your price range ($1,100) but the Canon 60D shoots amazing pictures and also can shoot HD video. I would save my pennies for this.

    Go for a DSLR

The Canon S95 is a great camera, but it's not as fast as an SLR - you will miss more action shots with it than with an SLR like the Nikon 3100. Both B&H Photo and Adorama sell used gear - maybe you could get a Nikon D40 or D5000 for a better price. Stay away from the D3000 - kludgy interface. If the 18-55 lens is too big, look for a 35mm fixed lens - no zoom, but great optics and a bit more compact.

If you just want snaps, I vote for the Canon S95, too.

I am about to buy a GO Camera. I finally got to see one and they are very cool. My question is why don't you use it for snapshots as well as video?
