go and take them and sell them. The fish should only be taken by
American citizens that are will to go out and catch one. Whether it
is on their own boat or a rented one. You do nothing for the economy.
You catch the fish, sell them, and put the money for our fish in your pocket.
The rec. fisherman spends billions of dollars each year on gear, boats, dockage,
insurance, maintenance, charters, hotels (ect., ect.,ect.) to catch a fish to eat.
The com. fishing should be completely shut down. If you want to eat a fish, go fishing.
If you can't go fishing, charter a boat for me and I'll give you the fish I catch.
I tend to agree with this more than I would have thought. Comm guys dont deserve the fish anymore than the Rec guys. I understand some of you make your living on this but thats the way things roll. I open a store selling string and someone opens one up a block down the street hes taking my business. Is this wrong? NOPE.. Would it suck? Yup. Im all for anything to sustain the fishery. With the unknowns of the Gulf spill in the Bluefin spawning grounds and how this might hurt the the numbers of fish surviving make it all catch and release for a few years. 2 years of no fish is better than 20!

Said this awhile back but sounds like the charter & Rec guys need to come up with how they want to fish for their piece of the pie. Why drag the commercial guys in to it? We're all set with our quota. We keep our quota in check and the fishery closes when the quota is reached.

We as commercial guys sat down years ago and figured out how we wanted to fish for our piece of the pie (monthly quotas for instance to keep the season open all year). We then brought these suggestions to NMFS and they listened.

So band together, have your meetings like we did years ago and come up with how you want to fill your quota.

I think it's safe to say we'd all like another 1,000 mt of quota for whatever category we're in and be able to fish every day all year long. But that's not an option so figure out how you want to divvy up your slice.

how many of these fish actually go to the gulf...I am sick of that statement by the greenies...we don't know what goes and spawns there> shit they might spawn to the east...these fish swim between two oceans..so stop using the gulf as an example to shut fishing down...as for theguy dstriper...you are just ignorant....you make zero sense...I pay a dockage fee every year, buy tackle, bait more fuel than the average guy and the money i make off any fish goes back into the economy through my mortgage, electric bill, fuel, tackle ect who r u to claim that commercial fishermen get things for free and then hide all the money in a secret coffer somewhere?

    our fish

sashamy your an idiot! The rec guys spend thousands of times
more than the com. do on fishing. Yet the rec. guys get less than
20% of the fish. We don't need to ban together to decide how to
split our 20%, we need to ban together to get a larger percentage
    of the quota.

    great idea

If you wanted to go on to fed. or state land to capitalize on
it's natural resources you would have to pay. Commercial
fisherman should have to pay to harvest OUR natural
resource. There should be a fee for every fish brought to market.
I think I'm going to write my own letter, start my own campaign.
Call it "TAX COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN" Let the profit from
80% of our tuna stimulate the economy.
