The disaster in the striped bass trawling fishery in North Carolina was caused by a conflict of interest. Marine Fisheries Commision member Mike Daniels owns one of the trawlers that was high grading and killing thousands of striped bass and his family owns the Wanchese Fish Company. He voted to allow the trawlers to finish out the qouta and ignore the public outcry over the thousands of dead stripers. I have attached the ethics complaint form and will post the article originally posted by Greg Sears about the meeting where the vote was taken. This is dirty business and I at least am going to do something about it. Email your elected officials and the white House too while you are at it. people need to step up and get loud or these practices will continue. If you don't help this cause, don't whine about how there are no fish and it's too late to stop closures and endangered species listings!
