    Busted Roller Troller clip.....help?

I have a short story that ends with a broken roller troller clip....

Does anybody have any helpful advice to get this thing fixed...?

I have to flip back the calendar to Nov 9th @ 3am when I hitched up my CC and drove from Maine to Scituate Harbor....we launched and ran out to the SWC, we began setting the spread and had 3 lines out. When I reached for the SB rigger clip.....I found that the tension adjuster dial, the axle, the side clip, the small pin......GONE!

    WTF?? How the heck?

Ok, I had a theory......when trailering with the riggers telescoped down and the rigging line secured, I bet the outrigger clip was banging on one of the t-top rocket launchers.....for 100 miles at 65 mph.....and it beat the snot out of the clip.

Yes, we were lucky that a spare set of traditional rigger clips were stuffed in a tackle bag somewhere onboard- we reloaded the rigger & kept fishing it

    thanks guys for the help!

I run Black's clips. I keep a roll of electical tape on the dash and tape around the clip and to the rigger pole a couple wraps when trailering....cheap insurance

    Merry Christmas!!

we run aftco clips on all 4 riggers and they take a beating but they do not last for ever. we normally replace them 1 to 2 times a summer

keep a healthy supply of spare clips-whichever ones you use- on board at all times. better to have then not to have...check clips after every trip-grease if needed and run q-tip over clip or roller to check for nicks that will part line.

I've had that happen too many times. No more roller trollers for me. Been using Aftco OR-1's since without any probs.

one Jackson unit will solve your problem.

However as magoo suggested, better to apply a Grant or two so you have a spare for the next time.

Oooo, didn't think of that angle. I'll send you all my old ones for nothing. I just gave up on them. Broken clips, pins and bales.
But I must have a half dozen or so good ones. Just let me know where to sendem. I just can't bear losin a fish to gear failure or tearing one of my new outriggers off. Apparently Aftco has fixed the pin problem as of last year and all my new ones have performed flawlessly. Joe from Fishermans Outfitter had made me aware of the defect.

A reliable ''clip'' is #64 rubber bands, or two. The only problem is you cant adjust the lures as you troll.
