Blue Ocean Sportfishing 8/17/08

We left Shinnicock, NY at 3:15AM Sunday heading for a little spot 9 miles east from the square on the 100 line.

5 miles outside shinny our electronics would go out intermitantly and reboot than go out again ...after 45 minutes at idle & troubleshooting we switched out the fuses into another box and everthing was back and working fine.

Lines in around 7am....30 minutes later a nice blue marlin hits the WWB green machine and takes off on the 50Avet...she was all of 250-300 lbs and displayed some great acrobatics...really got our blood pumping..unfortunatley we didn't get her boatside for release..she came off 15 minutes into the battle.

We continued on after working the same area for an hour or so and after that we trolled 23 miles NE towards the dip between 600 & 800 feet...very quite out there, not much life...water temp 76.2 - 77.4

We worked up into the flats and went 4 for 4 on small yellows around 25-30 pounds which we released.

We ended the day offshore goinf from hi-flyer to hi-flyer lokking for some mahi on lite tackle.....unfortunatley we couldnt find them.

We headed for the barn same day at 4 PM.

We Raced back alongside a 32 Contender (sweet boat!) for about 10 miles between 30-35 Knots in a 4-6 foot tight chop (We lost..LOL... my charter couldn't handle it & I dont blame them)

Cleaned the boat and had a nice dinner @ Oaklands! (Regeae Night...lots of women pumpin & grindin!)

Talk on the radio was of quite a few Big Eyes Taken early morning @ the 100 square and SW Corner of the Hudson. Few small yellows and a couple nice ones taken at the Dip early morning as well by other boats.

Also guys, watch out for the 'BA' High Flyers there in the Hudson!!! One boat past 250 feet clear of it and still the booby trap line got cought up in their props...so be careful.
