Blue Ocean Sportfishing 7/5/08
I had the Brandon Longino/Chris Mercer Charter out today for a combo Blue & Fluke Charter out of Hampton Bays NY.
Loaded up the live well with Steve B. this morning and put 250live killies in the well by 5:30 AM. Met the boys at the marina by 6:30....and they were all ready to go....working on no sleep as they were out all night partying. Started off trolling by 7AM and imdeiatley had 4-6 lb blue fish in the boat...Kept 17 or so for the table and the guys let us keep a few for sharking later in the week. Switched up to fluking early around 9AM and quickly hit a body of shorts....rods were bending.... and we released 20 or so....put 1 in the box at 21 inches. Last of the incoming was a little slow....and we waited for the tide to turn...good conversation all around...... Beginning of the outgoing the fishing really heated up....and we hooked up with another 25 short fluke 16-19 inches which were released..... We boated 3 more keepers... Collin landed the largest going 7.80 LBS that screemed off the 14lb braid like a freight train.... We also lost a monster over 10LBS boat side as we had line failure on 20LB test and the drag was set a little to tight.....my bad on that! Great day on the water and an awesome charter group of guys who came out from the NYC to party & fish in the Hamptons. Looking forward to taking them offshore on the next charter! Thanks Brandon, Chris, Pat, Danny, Pete & Collin! Tight lines all! |
