BigEye Lures

Seems the bigeye bite is turning on. What is everyones thoughts on the best bigeye spread or lures for the AM bite? I like to use larger lures, purple and black. What are your thoughts?

I am far from an expert and have limited experience but all our eye's have come on either 6" rainbow bars or 6" green bars..

Hey, Larry Meat solves all problems..
One can never go wrong with meat..

You still planning on heading south this weekend if skipjack is ready.

I'm no expert either but a trip down memory lane over 10 years as i don't have logs handy:

I've probably raised 15-20;the ones in close on either mid size 9 or 11" bars or heavy swimming plugs; the ones longer on ballyhoo or small straight running jets or tuna clones.

I've had 3 wolf packs and more singles; the singles have invariably come after the lone straggler long; the wolf packs in close. My ratio on wolf packs matches the rest of yours - miserable

. Singles is a lot better as long as its not on a TLD

And yes - if my marina can pull off a miracle; we'll be going south.

The last big eyes I caught were on Offshore Innovations Hatch Bars... I see a number of slick sick baits in Canyongears collection. Bills Rastabar should work too. There was a bait called blaster that was carried by Truebluetackle.com that was one of my go to baits also...

I have about 4 weapons that will work and have.

Flo Purple Canyon Machine Spreader Bar either 9" or 12" all green.
Dark Flo Green " " " " all purple.

Puple head with Rainbow skirts work too.

Rigged direct to the last teaser..No Stinger seperate color.

Big Eye Lure Medium - Purple Abablone or Purple Tint/Silver Purple Skirts. This is a heavy lure just for this purpose.

Medium Weighted Bullet (Wahoo Machine) - Purple Blue head over Purple Skirts. Heavy straight runners.

Always a true medium weighted Bullet shown are natural with flo green chevron and purple tint with purple black chartruese.

Last two we got were on the Dark Flo Green Spreaders and a Black and Purple weighted Ilander with Ballyhoo. If my memory serves me right.

I just sent, a Dark Flo Green Bar up North and a Medium Big Eye Medium in Clear with Purple Abalone and Dark Purple skirts..just for the 100 square bite.
