    NM BIG MAC WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF TO THE SP.FISH COMMUNITY

    MY NAME IS CAPT. JIM MCFARLAND, I RUN A 35' DOWNEAST SP. FISHERMAN OUT OF GREEN HARBOR, MASS. THIS WILL BE MY 35TH. YEAR TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT. I ALSO LOBSTER IN THE FALL AND WAS A COMM. LONGLINER IN THE WINTERS BEFORE THE REGS AND DAYS AT SEA CHANGED EVERYTHING. WE START APRIL 16 AND GO TO THE END OF NOV. WE TARGET COD, HADDOCK, POLLOCK, WOLFIES, CUSK, HAKE AND OF COURSE SCHOOL AND GIANT BLUEFIN TUNA. EARLY SPRING FISHING IS MAINLY ON STELLWAGEN BANK, IN LATE JULY WE RUN OUR SPECIAL TRIPS TO THE OFFSHORE WATERS OF WILDCAT KNOLL AND THE VARIOUS WRECKS. THESE POPULAR TRIPS ARE COMBOS FOR TUNA AND GROUNDFISH OR STRAIGHT BOTTOM FISHING. WILDCAT OFFERS SOME REAL CHANCES AT BIG FISH. LAST YEAR ONE TRIP NETTED A 76, 74 AND 72 POUND COW COD. BIG SEA POLLOCK GALORE. WE ONCE HELD THE RECORD 50# TEST LINE FOR HALIBUT, 216 POUNDS. PICS OF TRIPS TO FOLLOW. BEST, CAPT. JIM
