Played hookey, ran east for a solo day OTW last Thursday. There was hardly anybody out there - no fleet ever formed that I saw, anyway. Beautify day, tho a bit bumpy to start. Minimal radio chatter. Hooked up and landed 62'er on a slow sluggo WTFB at noon. Score one for the mosquito fleet.
So I'm sitting there recovering from my hyperventilating after boating the fish when I spot something floating in the water. Looks like a squid shell. I grab it up and it proves to be the entire stinger rig (from a spreader bar I assume). Black, 20" long, big ass stainless steel tuna hook, floats inside. Looks pristine except for some tooth marks in the shell and some abrasions on the hook. Anyone recognize it? There has gotta be a story behind it. Found within spitting distance of BC.
