    FWIW

I too find the big squids of yesteryear are too much for what we see out there now.

I pull 2 13" and 1 11" bar and some meat and do pretty well for a recreational; certainly no where near Eric's class, but I too find the mid sized bars work much better than the old BB 18" bars. I also find 4.5-5 knots works really well as opposed to the old 3-4 knot slow drag.

I was one of the lucky ones today; 2-2 with a couple swings and misses before the bluefish took over the grounds.

How is the visibility out there guys? The Bertram I run is having radar problems. Is there a fog bank out there? We want to get out but I know how conditions can change in a minute.

    don't go

without 20/20 radar. 5 trips - 5 fog occurances with the "best" only an hours worth. The worst was 100 yard viz. from Monomoy tip on the way out to Bearses Shoal can on the way back with 8 hr's of fishing in between.

We went 1 for 3 on Saturday. The first fish was in the box by 6 am. Lots of blues and bass. I hear yesterday was more or less dead. Looking to head south on Saturday how far depends on the weather.
