Happy August from Capt. Dave & Baymen Charters! Hard to believe we are into the last four weeks of summer… But I must say, with few exceptions, this has been one of the most consistent fishing seasons that I can remember. We have had fish in the bay almost every day, non-stop, since May 7th! The only real slow/dead time for Baymen was during the minus tides July 12th – July 17th. That was a bump and grind week with very few fish (make note to self!).
This week, Baymen is wrapping up fiber glassing and painting the boat. We also installed a brand new livewell for our customers that enjoy livelining for striped bass. We are off the water for a few more days and should be back out for the rest of August shortly, and then into the fall fishing of September/October. After that, we go right into fall/winter waterfowling, deer hunting, and upland hunting with very little down time. One day we are fishing, and the next day we are putting the storm/hunting blind on the boat.
But that is all a long ways off. We’ve got a lot of fishing ahead of us and the grand finale of the fall striper blitz that is second to none in our waters here in Massachusetts. If its anything like the Spring Blitz we had earlier this season, it should be absolutely amazing! If you have not seen the video clips on the Baymen Homepage, there are two from May that will amaze you…. You can also see them on You Tube.
Well, we will See you out there, and if you’d like to hunt or fish with us this fall, now is a great time to book up some dates. The best of the season is just ahead.
