Same, same here Bobby. I am so freakin frustrated!! I am not set up for live bait and kites. And I am not committing to run/gun casting on every trip... which I should.

Trolling is a waste of gas.

I hear that, have you tried the bait thing on balloons? I balloon fish with great success. I cant stand the run and gun, or the troll. Just doesnt do it for me

Are you using live bait when you balloon fish? I have a bait well on my boat, but it is not very big. So I don't really use live bait except eels for stripers....

If you can get dead bait to look right from a balloon, I am all ears?

Saturday morning at middle bank was insane.... and just as frustrating!! We were in the middle of breaking fish for 3 hrs and through everything but the kitchen sink or live bait at them and no dice.

Are these fish going to start hitting..? Or what?

    Sunday

Yesterday afternoon there were tuna jumping out of the water NW Stellwagen from what looked like about four feet to 6 ft plus, but not feeding. Birds weren't crashing the surface, so there was no bait chopped up or near the surface. Frustrating, but at least there were some smaller bft up. Also, any way to avoid the dogfish with balloon rigs? Any time I put live mackerel out the doggies have been all over them.

We only have about 8' leader and then the balloon. You keep them near the surface the dogs leave them alone.

sorry i was talking live bait, your baitwell isnt big enough for 6-12 pogies or a couple dozen mackerel? If u got a 23 regulator i would think the well would be big enough? I run a 22cc hydrasport and my well can handle a ton of bait.
