Ballyhoo in Mass

John, What we see up here are half beaks, think a cousin to bally but I'm not positive. Down south you can catch bally by chumming to boat then sabiki or hair hook, and cast net them. Up here, the half beaks seem to be running for their lives with tuna on their a$$ all the time so never get a chance to try!

Stupid question, but I've seen them surfacing on the Cape waters, and South of the Vineyard....

Can you cast net them or get them on a Sabiki rig???

We have snagged them before with treble hooks.....

Not all are created equal. And like Jeff said, the halfbeaks we get are different than ballyhoo. I've tried to catch them with a cast net. They're tough due to the depth of the water. They squirt right out under the net.

-The 2nd is a POS "Select" (not Bionic)
-The 3rd is a Bionic Horse which I happened to pick up from Carl at Sportsman's Landing. Still looks good even after refreezing. Thanks Carl.

I also have some Bionics I picked up from Kevin this year. They look A-OK. Thanks Kevin.
