    Ball busting

    1. Young dumb bluefin makes much better sushi than gamey middle aged ones
    2. Believe it or not there are more than a few 2,3, 4 & 5 year olds out there
    3. I had a personal best today - 22".

    Hi Larry,

Heard you out there yesterday. Got one small (31 inch) fish in the first hour trolling near the claw and then nothing despite seeing whales, dophin and sharks including a mako that lept out of the water five times. I know you landed more than one. Any tips as to how other than "pounding" the same area? We saw nothing on top and no busting bait the entire day. The fish we brought in had squid, sandeels and a small fish in his stomach. Thanks.

4 out of 5 hits were on pink ballyhoo.

Last week the 2 we got were also on ballyhoo ; 1 pink, 1 blue and white. The week before the 1 fish was on a ballyhoo. The fish are eating half beaks.

I'd go ballyhoo, ballyhoo and more ballyhoo up there.

Amusingly the 22" *monster* ate a 9" green machine splash bar!

We got a 33" Friday at the Lil fingers on a heavy headed 4-5 oz green machine type lure. His stomach was full of small squid.

    balyhoo, balyhoo, and more ballyhoo????

Can you give any specifics on how you troll them, and rig them? Speed; location in the spread, etc.
What are you using for skirts on them, and where can you buy them?
I haven't fished with "naturals" since the 80's. I wouldn't even think of rigging them myself at this point, so what does everyone think of the pre-rigged baits.

3 oz sea witch heads and rig them yourself. The pre rigged wash out too fast.

&& - no ad intended but the baits I got from Kevin's Next Day Bait are unelievably good.

I run mine with pink or white and blue sea witches. it's easy to rig with a pin rig:

I'm new to trolling bait. Can you tell me more about the pin rig? How does it work and where can I buy them? The 30 second thing really does look easy.
