    anyone using a Furuno 1623

It looks like my 12 year old radar has given up. I'm looking at the Furuno 1623. None of the manuals say if the screen is backlit for night use. I know it's too weak to see birds, but my boat and pockets are too small for a 4kw system. Thanks for reading this!

I used the 1623 on my old boat for years. The screen is backlit and it can get really bright. It's a great little unit, and served me well. Go for it!

Ditto all the above. Very impressed with the target resolution for such a small simple unit. Tracked storms, rain, etc. Its the perfect collision avoidance, limited vis navigation system.
